Update

The Subsidies for use of Community Centres and Facilities Draft Policy engagement closed 28 May 2014. The Policy was approved on 24 June 2014 and is now referred to as the Community Centres and Facilities Fees and Charges Subsidies Policy.

The City of Burnside recognises that their primary responsibility is for its local residents and community groups. With this taken into consideration, one of the main changes as per the adopted Policy, is that the subsidy has increased from 50% to 75% for organisations and institutions located and/or with the majority of membership inside the Council area, who conduct the majority of their activities within the area and/or is primarily for local residents.

The George Bolton Swimming Centre has also been included in this Policy for the provision of subsidies. These subsidies are for pool/lane hire or hire of the function room.

The subsidies predominantly focus on Burnside Community residents and groups, to encourage the local community to use our community centres and facilities.

This Policy also streamlines the subsidy process across all of Burnside Council’s facilities and relates to the Be the Future of Burnside Strategic Community Plan 2012-2025, “a range of high quality sport and recreational opportunities and facilities that foster healthy lifestyle pursuits."
