Update

The Hire of Community Open Space and Facilities Draft Policy engagement concluded on 30 September 2013. City of Burnside sought views on the proposed new draft Policy that covers the short term, exclusive-use, hire of community open space and facilities. The Policy also covers the documents required, in relation to permits for casual and seasonal hire of Council community open space and facilities.

Community input ensures the services we provide meet the needs of our community in a socially, environmentally and financially sustainable manner. Following on from the engagement process, a Council report was prepared and the Policy was adopted.

As per the Hire of Community Open Space and Facilities Policy, our approach is to, “ensure public spaces meet the future needs of our community and provide for a variety of vibrant and inspirational opportunities, encouraging participation by the community,” and to also, “create and facilitate access to diverse leisure, recreation and sporting facilities and programs that are safe for people of all ages and abilities.”

City of Burnside has a role in improving the quality of life of the community by providing community and cultural services and facilities, and also by ensuring equitable access to these.
