The new draft Hire of Community Open Space and Facilities Policy covers the short-term, exclusive use hire of community open space and facilities. This policy covers issuing of permits for events such as weddings, tennis court hire, park hire by commercial operators, and other casual and seasonal public and private events in Council reserves and buildings.

The draft policy also includes the application process, including Council’s requirements of applicants and the assessment criteria and approval process for casual and seasonal hire permits.

The draft policy has the potential to impact many members of our community and users of our recreation facilities.

Your input will help ensure the services we provide meet the needs of our community in a socially, environmentally and financially sustainable manner. Please provide your feedback.

Next Steps

Council will review the responses and incorporate as applicable into a revised policy. It is anticipated that the revised policy will be presented to council for endorsement in early 2014.
