BACKGROUND:
Part of best practice asset management, as defined in International Standard ISO55000, includes development of an Asset Management Strategy. It is a document which defines how the Council’s strategic objectives are integrated with, and supported by, asset management practices, and, what the Council intends to do to progress its journey towards best practice asset management.
ISO55000 and the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM) provide clear guidelines around what should be included in this document, and what ‘best practice’ asset management looks like. These have formed the basis for development of the City of Burnside’s proposed Asset Management Strategy, together with:
Council’s new Strategic Community Plan Burnside 2030 - to ensure Council’s asset management practices support delivery of the City of Burnside’s strategic plan goals and objectives; and
A comparison of Council’s current Asset Management practices against best practice, as defined in ISO55000 and the IIMM.
The Strategy does not look at what projects are undertaken, how, when, and how much money is needed to do so – this remains in existing Asset Management Plans (AMPs) and associated policies.
The Asset Management Strategy can be found in the Document Library above.
Provide feedback your on the draft strategy by 5 pm Monday 1 March 2021.
