Update

On Tuesday 28 June 2016 Burnside Council voted to adopt the 2016/17 Annual Business Plan and Budget with a proposed rates rise of just 0.9 per cent.

Mayor David Parkin said this is the lowest proposed increase in more than 10 years and considerably lower than last year’s rise of 2.9 per cent. “Residents should be assured that Council is in a sound financial position with an operating surplus of $1.3 million. The low rate rise is indicative of a Council that is managing its budget in the best interests of the ratepayers,” Mayor Parkin said. Mayor Parkin said the budget has been shaped by constructive feedback from the Annual Community Survey conducted late last year and community consultation this year which included three community sessions.
