Open from sunrise to sunset everyday.

Safety stuff – some equipment is not suitable for use (3 wheels, go-karts, motorised equipment, bikes with training wheels), wear protective gear and helmet, keep distance between riders, daylight hours only, slippery when wet, parent/guardian supervision required.

History

On 12 November 2019 Council resolved to purchase a portable pump track and conduct a 12 month rotating trial across four locations: Civic Centre (cnr Portrush Road and Greenhill Road); Newland Reserve, Erindale; Miller Reserve, Linden Park; Kensington Park Reserve, Kensington Park.

The #rideburnside trial has now concluded. The track is now in storage awaiting a Council decision on its future.

A report will be presented to Council at a meeting on 13 April 2021 on the results of the trial and the potential for introducing new locations for the track in the future. Two new locations for the pump track include Langman Recreation Reserve in Burnside, and Penfold Park in Magill.

The portable pump track, #rideburnside, will be temporarily placed in storage until the Council undertakes a workshop to determine its future. Burnside CEO, Chris Cowley, had committed to finding future locations for the pump track but has not been able to as the issue has become highly divisive and emotive in the community. There is both support and opposition for the use of the pump track in the City.
