Update
The Community Land Revocation engagement closed on 16 June 2014, for the proposal to revoke Community Land status on small sections of two Council reserves to allow the possible disposal to adjoining neighbours.
A number of responses were received relating to the Magill Stone Mine Reserve with some respondents expressing the view that fencing should be erected on any revised boundary alignment, at the expense of the purchaser to prevent further encroachments. Some people questioned the values offered for the possible sale of the land to the adjoining owners who have encroached upon the reserve. Reponses to these questions were provided in the Council report and also to the individuals.
No submissions were received relating to the land at WH Holmes Reserve.
In July 2014 Council resolved to seek the Minister’s consent to revoke the Community Land status on portions of the Magill Stone Mine Reserve and WH Holmes Reserve. The Minister approved the proposal to revoke the Community Land classification of the subject portions of land. Council now has the option to sell the portions of land that have been encroached upon to the adjoining neighbours.
