Consultation has concluded
The City of Burnside is developing a Disability and Access Inclusion Plan and needs your feedback.
A Disability Access Inclusion Plan (DAIP) is a proactive tool that Council will use to improve access to programs, services and facilities that provide people with disability the opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of society.
Consultation will be undertaken to gain an understanding of Council’s current position as seen by our community. Your feedback will help us plan for better access and inclusion and establish and remove existing barriers. Our DAIP will set out our commitment to long term action along with a set of targeted actions Council can work towards achieving.
In building our Plan the City of Burnside will align with the National Disability Strategy (NDS) and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) to ensure it meets its obligations in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2018.
What do we want to know and why? We want to hear from people living with disability about access and inclusion so that the City of Burnside can make better communities for everyone to live in.
We want to know about your experiences, including what is working and not working in your community. We also want to know about initiatives and models that we can use to make it easier for people with a disability to participate in the City of Burnside community.
What will we do with your feedback?
Your feedback will help the City of Burnside formulate a Disability Action and Inclusion plan. Council aims to remove existing barriers and make the City of Burnside’s buildings, community centres, parks and other amenities universally accessible and inclusive of all sectors of the community.
