Plan for the Future - Have Your Say

Hazelwood Park is an iconic State Heritage listed public open space. To ensure the Park continues to reflect community values and contribute to people’s health, happiness and wellbeing it is important that a Management Plan is created. The Plan can help to conserve and protect as well as rejuvenate this important community space.

Last year over 300 people responded to a call for ideas on Hazelwood Park. The ideas and views expressed have now been developed into a suggested draft vision, four management principles and seven protection and rejuvenation opportunities.

To view the Management Plan Process please see below right.

How do I get involved?

You can be involved in the Hazelwood Park Management Plan development process at any stage of this project.

To have your say at this current stage, please read the supporting document outlining results of community consultation to date (located in the Document Library at the top right of the screen) and complete the survey by Friday 15 April 2016.

A ‘Have Your Say’ Park Day will be held at Hazelwood Park on Sunday 20 March from 2pm – 5pm between the swimming centre and the Wombat Waterhole Playground. There will be information displays and free face painting for the kids.

The City of Burnside has a responsibility to conserve and maintain this State Heritage listed park now and into the future. The draft Hazelwood Park Management Plan (HPMP) is a guide for how this conservation and maintenance will be undertaken.

This draft plan will enable Council to define and develop vegetation management plans; write technical guidelines to manage and preserve the elements of the park for the future; undertake detailed tree value and risk assessments; and, identify opportunities to enhance and preserve existing park elements and plan for future use.

Extensive community consultation has been undertaken over the past six months including a city wide survey of Burnside residents, an open day at the park, and a second survey to further explore ideas and community opinions. From this feedback a draft HPMP has been developed.
