Background
Following a request from Rose Park residents, Council sought community feedback on proposed changes to Hewitt Avenue Reserve, Rose Park.
The development of this concept design commenced in March 2023, when Council distributed a letter and survey to nearby residents of Hewitt Avenue Reserve to determine feedback and opinions on the proposal for the Reserve.
The proposal consisted of an edible pocket garden that would include two wicking beds, a new canopy tree, paths and a drinking fountain. Hewitt Avenue Reserve is an invaluable area of open space used by local people in Rose Park for a variety of purposes, and a pocket garden could complement these uses.
Council also conducted an on-site community workshop on 17 May 2023. Community members were involved in the co-design process of this concept design.
Based on the feedback from the survey and the workshop, a draft concept design has been developed and feedback is being sought from the local community.
