Kensington Baseball Club Home Run Fence - Consultation Results

The results of the survey were considered by Elected Members at the Council meeting on the evening of 14 August 2012.

 


The results of the survey to consider whether Kensingtone Baseball Club should be allowed to erect a temporary home run fence were considered by Elected Members at the Council meeting on the evening of 14 August 2012.

Councillor Piggott moved:

 IE0036 

1. That the Report be received. 

2. That the Kensington Baseball Club proposal for the erection of a temporary

fence be approved for use on Newland Reserve (Bill Cooper Oval). 

3. That:

3.1. the fence be constructed of metal mesh, be black in colour, and be no

more than 1.5 metres in height;

3.2. no advertising signage be attached to the fence;

3.3. the fence be erected for senior game days only;

3.4. the fence be erected and taken down within one hour of programmed use

times; and 

4. That the current permit for Seasonal Hire and the attached Conditions of Use

between the City ofBurnsideand the Kensington Baseball Club for Bill Cooper

Oval and Lower Playing Field of Newland Reserve be amended to reflect

recommendations 2 & 3 of this Report, and remain as part of the Conditions of

Use until amended by Council or Council Administration. 

5. That Council work with the Kensington Baseball Club and neighbouring residents

and businesses to establish the scale of the issue of baseballs being hit beyond

the boundary of Bill Cooper Oval and, if considered necessary, initiatives to

address it. A report must be provided to Council prior to the granting of the

permit for 2013/2014 season. 

6. That the results of the Council resolution be notified to residents.
