Playground Upgrade - Penfold Park, Magill

** UPDATE **

This playground upgrade is now complete. It has been revamped with lots of brand new equipment for children to enjoy. A photo of the completed playground can be seen below.

BACKGROUND:

The opportunity

Penfold Park currently includes two playground areas, both of which are now due for replacement. This provides the opportunity to combine the two playgrounds into one large playground, providing equipment for a range of abilities and ensuring that the new playground is compliant to current safety standards.

Consultation 

Council undertook extensive consultation on the master plan for Penfold Park in October / November 2020. As part of this consultation residents and park users were asked to nominate preferred types of equipment they would like to see in the park and were offered the chance to provide any other feedback.

Results

Feedback obtained through masterplan consultation indicated the community would most like to see natural element features, climbing and swinging elements in relation to the playground replacement. Sliding and balancing elements were also quite popular, and the desire to keep or extend the shade sail was mentioned multiple times.

Next steps

Design for the new playground is underway, taking into account the feedback received through masterplan consultation. Construction works is expected to occur during the second half of next financial year.
