Update

This community consultation was open for comment from 21 June – 12 July 2017.

In early 2017, the Chapel Street Community Garden Committee requested to install a PIRSA* registered beehive at the Chapel Street Community Garden (CSCG).

This request was approved, which allowed the Community Garden to work with Adelaide Bee Sanctuary to install and maintain the beehive at the Garden.

The bees were moved to the Garden on 9 September and the Adelaide Bee Sanctuary has since been monitoring the hive during the settling in process.

The location of bees at the Garden will increase crop yields from pollination, produce honey and provide a benefit to the ecosystem beyond the garden boundary by pollinating plants. The bees contribute to environmental sustainability and community groups that visit.

Members of the public are most welcome to be involved in the Garden. Join the community at the monthly open day is on the third Saturday of each month. For more information, please contact the (GSCG) at 8331 9344 (Monday – Friday 9 am – 1 pm) or email chapelstgarden@morialtauca.org.au
