What is happening?

The CSCG Committee seek to install a PIRSA* registered bee hive at the Garden. The bee hive would be managed by the Adelaide Bee Sanctuary, who manage hives in other gardens for the City of Charles Sturt, Government House, Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Showground and at other locations across Adelaide.

Locating bees at the Garden will increase crop yields from pollination, produce honey and provide a benefit to the ecosystem beyond the garden boundary by pollinating plants. The bees contribute to environmental sustainability and will further extend the educational value of the Garden for the local primary schools and
community groups that visit.

Can I get involved with the Garden?

Members of the public are very welcome to be part of the community garden’s success. Join the community at the monthly open days on the third Saturday of each month.

This is an opportunity to meet the community, help out in the garden and find out more about how to get involved. For more information contact CSCG at 8331 9344 (Monday - Friday 9 am - 1 pm) or email chapelstgarden@morialtauca.org.au

Community gardening

Community gardening offers an enormous number of cultural, social, economic and health benefits, from increasing our community's food security, to adding to the ecological sustainability and attractiveness of our neighbourhoods.

Community gardening can also teach us about healthy eating and about where our food comes from. In addition to these benefits, community gardening is a great social activity, enabling us to get to know our neighbours, meet like-minded people, and build a strong sense of community.

Can I give feedback on the proposed bee hive?

Yes. Please submit your response via email below.

Please provide your feedback by 5 pm Wednesday 12 July 2017.
