Background
The road surface condition of Henry Martin Square, Magill, has been a concern for both residents and Council over a number of years.

Background
The road surface condition of Henry Martin Square, Magill, has been a concern for both residents and Council over a number of years.
Due to the underlying reactive clay that is prevalent throughout Adelaide, the road pavers continuously ‘move’ resulting in raised pavers, sections of pavers that break off, loose pavers and gaps in the paved surface. In addition, the type of paver which was used in the road surface when the original development was undertaken has shown not to be the most suitable choice for the road surface under these conditions.
Since the pavers first began to move and cause problems for residents, Council has undertaken a number of measures in an attempt to address these issues however these measures have not adequately addressed the unusually excessive paver movement.
Options
This matter was presented to Council in October 2016 and the following was resolved:
1. That Council confirms the replacement of the existing road surface in Henry Martin Square during the 2016/17 financial year.
2. That the Administration conduct a consultation of the 21 residents of Henry Martin Square, asking them:
2.1 their preference of road surface, options being asphalt, coloured asphalt and interlocking paving, and
2.2 in the event that residents prefer interlocking paving, their attitude towards Council requesting a contribution from all residents toward the additional costs of this product relative to the Council standard asphalt.
3. That Administration report on the results of the consultation to Council ahead of a final determination.
In accordance with the Council Resolution, residents of Henry Martin Square are invited to advise Council of their preference on which of the following three road surfaces should be laid at the Square:
- Black Asphalt
- Coloured Asphalt
- Interlocking Pavers.

Please nominate your chosen option in the survey below.
Please also provide details on your opinion on Council requesting a contribution from Henry Martin Square residents toward the additional cost of the installation of the interlocking pavers, should this be the preferred option amongst the residents.
