Background
A mural for the Tusmore Park toilet block was proposed as part of the Your Neighbourhood Budget (YNB) participatory budgeting program. This program asks residents to suggest ideas for small capital projects that they would like to see funded in their neighbourhood.
The proposed mural is to be painted by experienced artist and local resident, Genevieve Byrt to improve the appearance of the toilet block in Tusmore Park and complement the leafy and family-focused surroundings.
What is happening?
The City of Burnside is seeking community feedback and opinions on the proposed mural designs prior to any works commencing.
The results of the consultation will inform the decision about whether installation of the mural will proceed or not and provide feedback on which mural design residents prefer.
How do I have my say?
If you would like to provide feedback, please complete the survey by 5 pm on Friday 22nd December 2023.

Your Neighbourhood Budget - Tusmore Park toilet block mural
ometimes you can find beauty in unexpected places, and thanks to Your Neighbourhood Budget funding and the artistic touch of a Burnside native, the Tusmore Park toilet block has gone from grey and gloomy to purple and proud.
As part of the 2023/24 Your Neighbourhood Budget program, six projects around the City of Burnside were approved following public voting. One of which was the commissioning of a mural to be painted on the exterior walls of the toilet block on the eastern side of Tusmore Park, near the Tusmore Wading Pool.
Genevieve Byrt of Gen + Tonic Art, who grew up just a few doors down from Tusmore Park, has brought this project to life and is proud to bring a splash of colour to the park that has played such a major role in her life.
