Community consultation on the draft Conyngham Street Depot Master Plan was undertaken between 1 May and 22 May 2017.

The concept presented the opportunity to redevelop an underutilised and poorly maintained asset while achieving significant potential community benefits.

The results of the community consultation were strongly in favour of the proposed Depot Master Plan.

Respondents were asked to nominate what features a community space at this location could include. The majority of respondents made multiple selections, however a Community Garden, Nursery and Men’s Shed were most popular.

Given the favourable community consultation results and the benefits of a multi-use site that combines Depot operations, a Community Garden, Men’s Shed facilities and Nursery activities, it was recommended at the 11 July Council Meeting that the proposed Depot Master Plan be endorsed for the purposes of developing a business case and detailed design. On the 11 July, the Master Plan was endorsed.

The business case and Council endorsement of the detailed design and activation plan for the Depot redevelopment is scheduled for December 2017. At this stage, the Depot redevelopment site works are due to commence in July 2018.
