Help shape your community. Have we got it right?

Council’s Strategic Community Plan is a strategy and planning document that reflects community long-term vision, values, aspirations and priorities. It is intentionally high level and concise as it sets the broad goals for the Council area and the approaches that Council will undertake to deliver them.

It will be then be delivered through action plans, services and annual budgets.

Every four years, local governments in South Australia are required by the Local Government Act (1999) to prepare a series of Strategic Management Plans that outline directions for Council services, programs, assets and finances.

An important part of preparing the new Strategic Community Plan is understanding the community’s opinions on factors that are influencing the Council area and need to be considered in the planning for future services, programs, infrastructure and assets to ensure that they are effective and relevant. The plan was shaped by what our community told us matters most.

We’ve heard you, and want to confirm your thoughts on the draft plan, to help make sure we’ve captured a clear picture of what a great future looks like for our City.

What's in the plan?

The Draft Strategic Community Plan is a vision for our City. It will guide some of our most important projects and programs over the next 10 years, and help us respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.

The draft plan has three main themes and for each theme a goal that describes a broad area for action. Each goal has a series of priority work areas that describe what Council aims to achieve with this plan, given what our community has told us. The plan also includes four principles that guide how Council will go about its business in delivering the plan.

The themes and goals are below and the list of priorities for each can be found in the full plan in the Documents library above. Be part of shaping your community and give your feedback via the 'Have we got it right?' survey. Ask questions or give comments in the Forum too.
